The topic for Rob’s PhD is personal brands. He is busy developing a model that can be used to build a personal brand, and this is the knowledge he will be sharing with you here.

The concept of a personal brand was first coined as a term by Tom Peters back in 1997, but the idea has been around since the beginning of time. Caesar and Cleopatra were very famous brands in their time! Their legacy lives on even today.

With the rise of elements like LinkedIn, personal branding is an essential part of positioning yourself in the current zeitgeist – for a prospective job, as an expert in your field, or as a public figure.

Rob can help you with any of these elements.

Rob took the knowledge of his marketing background and is himself busy building an impressive personal brand with a huge marketing footprint. You will never find him anywhere without a personally branded item of clothing, no matter where he goes. If you do, he will pay you $10.

You too, can start to build your personal brand, whether you are a public speaker, a singer or musician, a minister, healer or other religious leader, the CEO of a company, a chef, or any other type of leader who wishes to increase their public profile or simply build a solid brand from the ground up.

Remember, building a brand is about more than just a logo – though a logo is often a great place to start!

There are six price points for building your brand. Please choose the package that most suits your needs and budget. All packs come with a learning manual (please note: pricing here is in US Dollars [as opposed to singing lessons, quoted in Rand, which take place in Johannesburg] - brand building is not bound by borders):

Starter Pack = $500 (10 hours of work)

  • Audit & evaluate existing brand
  • Align elements of brand name or choose a new one
  • Help you find your positioning & communicate it
  • Prepare a basic strategy around your brand

Brand Grower = $1,000 (20 hours of work)

  • All of the Starter Pack elements, plus:
  • Creation of a logo with semiotics & symbology in place
  • Creation of social media to support the brand
  • Advice on creating SEO & SMO for the brand

Impact Maker = $2,000 (40 hours of work)

  • All of the Brand Grower elements, plus:
  • A strategy for making a local impact on your community
  • A precursory look at the fundamentals of personal brand building, and the 10 essential things you need to implement, to build your PB
  • An overview of your publicity footprint

Celebrity = $5,000 (100 hours of work)

  • All of the elements of the Impact Maker package, plus:
  • An in-depth discussion of the fundamentals of personal brand building, and the 20 essential things you need to implement, to build your PB, together with a strategy and an action plan for achieving these, implemented over 2 months
  • An audit of your publicity footprint, with a detailed strategy of how to grow this, and implementation of same over a 2-month period
Superstar = $10,000 (200 hours of work)
  • All of the elements of the Celebrity package, plus:
  • A detailed discussion of the fundamentals of personal brand building, and the 50 essential things you need to implement, to build your PB
  • A strategy and an action plan for achieving these 50 elements, undertaken on your behalf over a period of 6 months
  • An audit of your publicity footprint, with a detailed strategy of how to grow this, and implementation of same over a 6-month period

Icon = $20,000 (400 hours of work)

  • All of the elements of the Superstar package, plus:
  • A detailed discussion of the fundamentals of personal brand building, and the 100 essential things you need to implement, to build your PB
  • Use of Rob Rodell’s Iconic Personal Brand Model to set the stage for the long-term building of an iconic brand
  • A full-on marketing strategy to implement the elements of the model, and to prepare the person for iconicity, implemented over a year
  • This will include a discussion of the values, vision and mission, and the purpose for the PB
  • It will also include fuelling the desire to create and leave a legacy

Bolt-On Packages:

The last 3 packages (Celebrity, Superstar, Icon) require lengthy periods of time to achieve, with the following guidelines:

  • Celebrity = 2-5 years
  • Superstar = 5-10 years
  • Icon = 10-20 years or more

Much of this depends on the person’s vision and their focus, together with some well-crafted strategies. To this end, once the assistance that forms part of these packages ends (2 months for Celebrity, 6 months for Superstar, 12 months for Icon), it would be advisable to continue with strategic marketing on a retainer basis. Please chat with Rob about retainers ranging from $500 (10 hours) per month upwards, depending on goals to be achieved.

Bespoke/Tailor-Made Packages:

Rob can offer you a normal artist management package for the day-to-day artist management functions, from booking shows to seeking out press opportunities and managing social media. Please email Rob for a package designed to meet your needs, charged at $50 per hour. Thank you.

Payment Structures:

  • A 50% deposit is required before any work is done.
  • Payments can be structured over a period of time, ranging from 4 to 24 months.
  • Please speak to Rob about making arrangements that would best suit your needs and your budget.
